The golden quarantine of junk - Aditya Bahl

two barefoot
  kids peep into
    each      other's ragsacks

looking for a miracle  /   the lack of a toy

         gun

    one
      with one arm missing

the warm sun scorn               automatic burden :
   vital                    gestation
   the preliminary despair

     of yr obdurate afterthought
     summoned
by the 10 am sirens penetrating

   the golden quarantine of junk
                                         tenements      modicum of 'more'

                 "in one line"  turns out

its the highway patrol car       "checking"

   (catastrophe delayed in rehearsal)

Aditya Bahl was born and brought up in the mountain state of Himachal Pradesh (India). His poems have been rejected by countless magazines and journals.

  1. The poem is obdurate and fine to contain such gold. Thank you, Donna

A fearful arithmetic in all this, Aditya.

  3. In times like these rejection should be worn as a badge of honour.

    Perhaps on the empty sleeve.
